I was thinking of doing a 2"body lift, and was talking to one of the guys at work, who lifted his hilux.
he said that if i did a 2" body lift the trooper would become too top heavy, and more inclined to tip at roundabouts etc,
so i should also fit 30mm wheel spacers, Is he right or talking *beep*??
(ive got the mk2 3.1, and am running 265/75/16 at the mo) |

Do you have any suspension lift? In theory the higher you go the wider you want your wheelS to keep it stable, troopers are quite top heavy _________________ 2000 3.0 Trooper Duty swb |

personally not a fan of wheel spacers .... the 3.1 has a narrower wheel base to the 3ltr (about 40mm i think)
bit more exspensive but i would go for a better offset wheel ... common upgrade is the frontera wheels which have a deeper offset ..... but that's just my opinion ...others will vary _________________ LTM NO.41 |

I agree with col, I'd change my rims rather then fitting spacers. I haves paj rims and they have quite a nice offset. _________________ 2000 3.0 Trooper Duty swb |

thanks for the quick replies, no suspension lift as yet.
so i take it would be unwise to lift with the standard rims? |

a lift is no prob even with standard rims .... i lifted mine befor i upgraded tyres ...it just makes the standard tyres look small
what sort/type lift are you looking at doing .... coil spacers is the easiest and cheapest for a moddest lift which will cope with
pretty much everything ..i.e lanning and play day's .....it all depends on your budget and how extreme you want to go _________________ LTM NO.41 |

i was looking at doing the body lift. but is the suspension lift better/easier?
I wanted to split the body/chassis to allow me the space to underseal the chassis easier. |

no real point in doing a body lift if just so you can underseal it ...... if your looking for a bit more advantage in height
offroading or green lanning capabilities then a sus lift is the 1st thing to do _________________ LTM NO.41 |

Suspension is a couple of hours, body can be a couple of days.
Suspension helps off road, body does nothing apart from make it look higher and maybe make room for bigger tyres if needed. _________________ |

ok so suspension, best way to go for light off roading etc.
I take it this is just a case of spacers and cranking up the torsion bars.
whats the best way to underseal the chassis then, as the MOT tester said its starting to rot at the rear? |

I wouldnt use underseal as it traps moisture, you would be better off using waxoil and removing the bumper while doing it. _________________ |
