Hi one and all
I could really do with some advice regarding using Biodiesel over winter ? during the summer i have been using veg/diesel mix of about 50/50 % for the past 2 years and i have never had any problems however during the winter months i have always used 100% derv. This year i am thinking about using Bio and if all goes well i may even purchase a bio plant kit for the garage and try making the stuff myself, my main question is can bio be used over the winter months also any advice would be much appreciated .. and Marky do you know the best places to get any bio in the NW ooh and do i need to change my fuel filter ?

thx
Samantha

I'm waiting for a price on Bio as my son recently bought a 306tdi, I'll tell you as soon as I get one.
As for running it in winter, it depends if they have put a winter additive in there, if not try crown oil in Bury to see if they sell it.
You can use petrol to stop the fuel waxing but I would do a jam jar test in the freezer so you get the % right without putting to much in.
I guess about 5% would be ok to -15ish

The morrisons stuff isnt bio its a blend, 5% bio I think  Confused
Is Bio-D the one on Ashworth road ?
No need to change the filter, the veg oil will have cleaned the tank out anyway

PS. proper bio is diesel, its just made from new oil rather than the stuff that comes from underground  Smile
The only issue is cold weather and you allready hit on that.

If its properly produced then I cant see a problem, All diesel has about 2% bio in anyway.
The problems start when people cut corners and then its nasty stuff  Rolling Eyes
