If it is the 3.1, No they didn't have the same problems, I thought 99 was the 3.0 or was it the changeover year? Someone will tell us shortly. _________________

3.1 on a 99 plate must take a long time for delivery to phillapines. _________________ Mickyboy

One would imagine it's the different markets scenario again, or something that's been in stock for a long time, have we ascertained it's a mk4? _________________ Every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff from out of my brain.

Beginning in 1998, Troopers in the US were equipped with a DOHC 3.5 L engine producing 215 hp (160 kW). European and Asian buyers could opt for a 4.0 L diesel, and other diesel engine options appeared later on, including the 4JG2 3.1 L (later superseded by the more problematic 4JX1 3.0 L). At this time, the introduction of the Borg-Warner Torque on Demand system provided an All Wheel Drive setting. Freshened styling also debuted at this time, and the grille was redesigned again for the 2000 model year.
So, yes, there was a 1999 3.1
