Hello everyone, I have a 2000 3.0L TDI. Probably every fourth or fifth time I start it, mostly from cold, the idling will play up. Surging from 600rpm or so up to 1500rpm. It's an auto and when I have my foot on the brake I can feel it fighting against the brakes. It's usually better once the engine has warmed up but very occasionally it still plays up then. Another occasional symptom is it has no guts when trying to accelerate away. Any suggestions???

Has it had he recall work done? If the sump is filling with DERV it could be just starting to pick up on the oil?
Someone who actually knows what they are talking about with the 3.0 will be along soon hopefully.

| I had the recall work for the injectors done and I just called IM who said thats the only major one I need worry about. The only other one was some minor wiring issues in the heater. |

| oil rail pressure sensor is favourite to cause those conditions but could also be a leak in the oil system that fires the injectors, get the sensor changed and coded and see what it's like then |

| Thanks for that. I'm gonna sound stupid now. What is the Oil Rail Pressure sensor and where is it? I can do basic stuff, I've done the glow plugs and changed a brake caliper, is this something do-able for someone of my limited mechanical ability? |

| it needs to be coded in as well so it reads the correct pressure which can only be done on a tech2 |
