At the end of a good day at cowm quarry today I noticed, while cleaning the lights to go home, that the viscous fan has managed to somehow lose a blades and only has 2 left!!!
In the process of losing these blades it seems to have smashed the cores of my coolant rad to pieces!!!!  Anyone heard of this before? Anybody got either? Sad  Sad  Sad  Sad  Sad  Sad

Hi most likely a big stone managed to jump up and caught the fan blades - do you have the cowling? as this manages to stop most of the stones and mud - when you think about how fast the blades are moving even a small stone can decimate the plastic fans
cheers
Steve

PITA but a good chance to fit electric fans and then you can turn them off when wading.  Someone just picked up a Milner rad for £100 so not too expensive to repair.

seen it happen a couple of times, be amazed how quickly water can stop a fan turning! even had an X5 do it at work last year when they drove it through a flood! time for an electric fan?  Very Happy

milners are quick. if you orderit now you will get it tomorrow mate if thats any good? thinking about going electric my self. the mondeo fans are almost an exact fit for the isuzu rad. the only thing that has stopped me is i need to know exactly what fan switch to use (temperature wise). these engines dont like to run hot and my viscus fan works so well.......................10% mpg better and faster?..............er go on then Very Happy

The advantage of the X-Eng switch is there are many alternative temp ranges available, Intermotor, so if your not happy with the one it comes with you can get a different range from a motor factors.  With the fans at about £25 and the switch at £35 it soon pays for itself, plus you can set the wiring to suit your needs, towing, wading........

That's breaker/eebuygum prices for the twin fan and new for the switch.  Make sure you get the small fan loom as it makes the connections easier.

I think that's a single fan, you're better with a twin fan, there's a couple now but the £50 has been there for ages.

Think the twin fans are usually off the V6 motors... hook em up to a dual stage thermostat and three way switch.

All the twin fans are the same but they do come from a range of Mondeos.
