Ok got a radiator and viscous fan to repair my offroad damage. Any tips on fitting/bleeding the rad?
Also how do you swap the fan?
What antifreeze is recomended, I read using the wrong one can cause damage?! _________________ 1993 3.1td LWB Citation UK model...

OK
Rads are easy to fit. loads of room down there. Sump guard off for more room from underneath.
To blead, personally I just jacked the front of mine up and filled slowly.
Run engine for a while to warm it up to open thr thermostat to make sure it is full.
Then take it down the by-pass and thrash it
Check water level when you get back home. Keep your eye on it for a couple of days then weekly etc etc.
As for anti-freeze, I used Holts Summer Coolant. (only cause I ran out of John Deere Coolant at the farm) _________________ ''Drive it like you STOLE it''

Hi the viscious fans are reverse thread 36 mm and 32 mm try to use good quality fan hub spanners although a couple of mole grips will do at a push - you just have to hope that the last person didn't threadlock it the 32 holds still and the 36 turns antiengine
cheers

I thought that the fans were 4 10mm nut and bolts in a circle? Or does that not take of the viscous unit? It's late and the whole lump is in the garage _________________ For great insurance deals on 4x4s, imports and more, contact Adrian Flux :

thats right but if you remove the four bolts it aloso removes the pulley and the belt which i found and had to slacken the belt off to get the pulley back on. the fan disconcets from the pulley by the centre bolt behind the fan. hope that helps _________________ presumption is the mother of all f**kups |

Ok I have done the fan the dxmedia way and was simple enough.
Got a problem with the rad though. It is identical except for 2 small pipes at the bottom inline with the bottom hose. They are aprox 10mm diameter. I am thinking perhaps this is off an auto and these are for an oil cooler running inside the casing on the cold side of the rad?? Please tell me I dont need to get another rad?!?!? _________________ 1993 3.1td LWB Citation UK model...

You've an auto rad - you could always just cap the pipes and save for later, or modify to work as an oil cooler?? _________________ For great insurance deals on 4x4s, imports and more, contact Adrian Flux :

I noticed the same on my 3.1 Rad change.
Whilst it had the Copper pipes have you tried blowing through them ? mine were sealed / blocked, so I just ignored them !
