Go into BIOS - should have a 'press del to enter bios' or something on boot.

If not when you get the first screen up, press, del, F12 or backspace.

You'll get a FUGLY screen up with loads of settings. Use the arrow keys and normally page up and down to change - and find BOOT ORDER. Set first boot to be CD Rom.  Save the settings (the right hand option normally) and reboot, and it should try to load of the cd.

If not and you can only get a:\

Try typing in ...

d:\setup.exe

or d:\install.exe

or try replacing the d for another letter such as e or f (c is your hard drive)

It'll be that your BIOS is set to boot up from the hard drive first though and not the cd rom drive which will have the disk in.

Just though - you've two disks, I take it the startup disk is a floppy??

If so, when you see a:\  type in dir  that will list everything on the disk, if there's loads type in dir/p/w and it will scroll

Is there anything such as install.exe or setup.exe ?? if so, to run it just type in at a:\   install.exe  and it should run the set up program.

fdisk will repartition the harddrive, a format has already been done.

It had already been formatted, and fat32 not fat16, and since it's not an NT kernel there's no option for NTFS Wink

Fat16 hasn't been used since windows 95

Ray,

If you have a CD burner, I can dig out a link for downloading a copy of ME - it's totally legal downloading windows operating systems, it's the licence key you pay money for not the software.
