Hi there,  I'm a newby - I've had my trooper for a month now and I love it.

Using this forum has been really helpful,  so a big Thankyou to all you guys.

Now I have a question of my own:

Just about to do the first service.  Are there any advantages to buying a branded more expensive oil like,  Castrol etc.

Or will the Halfords 5w 30 fully synthetic do the job?

I would rather put a decent one in - so what branded one is best?

Do they also have to be Diesel specific?

Many thanks again,  Jimbob.

I used Halfords own brand semi synth in my 2.8/3.1 with no problems, obviously the 3.0 needs to be fully synthetic but with the shortish service intervals I can't see that it should be a problem.

the 3.0l does like a good oil as it pressurises it up to silly pressures to run the injectors, i would go for the best 5/30 oil you can afford

id agree with eithan on that, the 3.0 does seem to thrash the oil, i always change mine at around 3500 miles as by then it seems well used, i use total future 9000 full synthetic in mine

okay thanks for the help.

Obviously i want to look after the truck so putting in a good quality oil must help,  I needed to know what brands are good and what everyone is using.

Would it be okay to use my local motor factors for filters?   or should take a trip to my local Isuzu dealer?

Also has any one put a winch on the front of their Trooper?

Cheers, Jimbob.

Maybe I will spend out top dollar on some quality oil and just settle for some stock filters...

-2 x Oil
-1 x Fuel
-1 x Air
-1 x Pollen
-New Oil

What else do i need for a service?

My truck has 139k on it, but seems fine and has plenty of torque.  How big is it to service the injectors?

Jimbob.

Continuing on the Oil theme.

I Have snother question for you techy boffins out there...

As I want to use a decent oil - What would be better oil to use from these four:

1)Castrol 'Edge' turbo Diesel 5w 40

2)Castrol 'Edge' (not specified Diesel) 5w 30

3)Castrol 'Magnatec' Diesel 10w 40

4)Castrol 'Magnatec (not specified Diesel) 5w 30

Any advice would be grateful

Many thanks, Jimbob. wav
