|
|
Hello all, hoping someone may be able to help. Got a 3.0TD 2000 Trooper, it has had all its recalls etc.
Anyway, my partner was towing a caravan a short distance and heard a ticking noise from the right hand front-may have been drivers footwell but not sure. 5 or so minutes later the engine cut out on her with no other warnings. Will not restart, although turns over fine. Apparently no engine warning light was on....although her sunglasses may have been in the way!
However, when recovering the van with another vehicle, the emergency brake wire was sparking on the tow ball and blowing the brake light fuse in the vehicle. It looks like a bad earth in the rear light cluster of the van.
Any ideas what this could have done to the trooper please, strange one I know? |

Maybe its damaged the immobiliser? I take it you've checked all the fuses for continuity. Maybe the 3.0L guys can confirm whether they still have the three fusible links like the MK1 has. _________________ Phil

on early vehicles a feed for the ecu was fed from the brakelight fuse so if it pops it wouldn't start, replace the fuse and they started up again, worth checking |

Had my first look today. Spot on, the brake light/ecu feed fuse. Thanks for your help. I always assume the worst with the 3.0TD.
