On the top of the thermostat housing... at least I think its the thermostat housing?... there are two sensors one with two wires..

The two wires seem to have snapped off - what is this sensor for? should I replace it?

I believe that the two leads also form part of the closed loop circuit for the Ceramic Heaters. Does your Trooper have twin Batteries?

The one with the two wires is a sender for the QWS (quick warm up system) this is the bit that closes the butterfly valves in the inlet and exhaust. The one with one wire is the sender for the QOS (quick on start) this is to do with glow plugs and idle.

I am told not to use the QWS - as the butterfly valves can stick? (read somewhere in a forum?)

If this is the case then no rush to replace? WDYT?

Did the same on my 2.8 last week when the engine was out (wouldn't advise with the engine in place) took the flap out of the down pipe and removed the vacume system which operates it all.
