|
|
I have hust bought a Trooper 3.0TD from a Toyota dealer, included in the sale was an oil and filter change, i new nothing of the troubles i have read in these forums, but i have been back to them with starting troubles and they had it a week and said there is nothing wrong with it, i am still looking around my local suppliers for 5-30 oil but i would like to now if you get at the filters from underneath and if so do you have to remove the engine guard.
Thanks

Welcome
If its cranking for 5 secs give or take before it fires it is normal as it needs the oil pressure to trigger the sensor and fire the injectors, or because you asked about 5/30 I assume they could have put the wrong oil in?
Rallymarshall is in North Wales and a few others, maybe they will know the best place to get it from, as for filters I dont know but the 3.0 guys will _________________ |

as marky says, the 3.0 needs around 3-5 seconds for the engine to build up oil pressure to fire the injectors, these engines are always slow to start and you mustnt use any other oil in them, it has to be 5-30 fully synthetic
the 5-30 oil, you should be able to get from any decent motor factors (i get mine thru me wifes work place ),
you do have to take the guards off underneath to get at the oil filter, its a bit of a pain but once you have done it once or twice, you soon get the hang of it,
i bought my filters off some1 on here but next time im gonna try milners off road for 1 (isuzu genuine filters are around £16 ) _________________ atb kevin

yes take guards off as you look at it from underneath the main filter is on the drivers side of engine long filter and the secondry filter is on passenger side smaller filter (don't forget to replace this 1) both are pretty easy to reach but watch out
for oil running out when you uanscrew them as they are both at anangle and the oil goes every where but apart from that a doddle to do _________________ LTM NO.41 |

At tip from the Antipodies...Following on with the oil filter change..to prevent oil from running out all over the place and dropping into the suspension arms...simply take a bit of A4 card and fold it down the centre to make a V..Slide it up under the filter and spin it off..the oil will flow down the V and into your oil collection trough..
No mess to clean up after...that is assuming you remove the waste oil pan before you drive off...hmm done that twice now...

Unscrew the oil cap prior to removing the sump plug as this releases some of the pressure and helps it flow better! |
