Also why do they state mud tyres to avoid lane damage when GLASS say muds cause damage |
Higher traction, less wheel spinning, less damage? |
Glass say if you need muds dont drive it, wait for a day when you wont need them,
The site also hints at closure but they cant due to gov guidlines, mmmmmmmm _________________ |

Might depend on what your using the muds for? If it's muddy, then leaving the track is a good idea, if it's for better rock traction, then rain makes very little difference? _________________ For great insurance deals on 4x4s, imports and more, contact Adrian Flux :

Talking about lane damage, look at when we all did chinley without so much as a chipped rock or moved pebble then look at the damage that one crosser did
Yet this place allows (without looking) twice as many crossers and they can do it twice _________________ |

The reason this lane has a notice on is so that the emergency vehicles can use it. The problem with 4x4's is they can make a road impassible rather than a crosser which can just make a bit of a mess. Last time I went over to Stanage some fing idiot had moved a large amount of rock to get up - leaving a flat rock over the edge, swings your back end over the edge of the track very nicley going down - which is a 200' drop before you'd finish rolling , a crosser wouldn't need that kinda thing to be done (took me a little bit of time to get the rock secure again - I'm glad I was going down rather than someone who'd never done stanage before - it was a really stupid place to do what was done [/rant] )
I can imagine it's this kinda argument for this lane. If you look on google - it's also rock. _________________ For great insurance deals on 4x4s, imports and more, contact Adrian Flux :

Na, it took the weight of a vehicle going down to move it, something going up would have ridden over... I'll rephrase that - it took the vehicle turning to pivot the stone and leave a brown trail on the ground _________________ For great insurance deals on 4x4s, imports and more, contact Adrian Flux :

It's a difficult question, I think the answer depends on the driver. In my experience of laning with muds and at's I leave less evidence of my passing on soft surfaces with the muds than the at's. I find so long as you keep the revs down they just nip at the surface maintaining traction where as I would have been spinning my BFG at's. In practice this means I can drive lanes now that I could not at certain times of the year with the at's for fear of damage to the lane.
The flip side is an idiot with muds on can do big damage. _________________ Front Aussie Locker - Rear LSD - Petrol Diffs

I did wonder if it was the same one.
I would check, but when I handed a couple of jobs back due to lack of time on my hands, I had my membership revoked (he kept all my useful hints & tips etc on camping tho ) _________________ LTM: 000136
