I did houndkirk last Saturday and noticed that peeps had been trying to get up a hill that they shouldn't have and made a right bloody mess,  why do they do it  Question  Question

"Drivers of four wheeled vehicles have deliberately strayed off the BOAT (SK 2780-2a), which crosses Houndkirk Moor on the outskirts of Sheffield, causing significant damage to this SSSI.
On behalf of the Peak and Derbyshire Vehicle User Group and other organisations, Nigel Bennett (Manchester GLASS) and Richard Entwistle (GLASS Peak Park Rep/Peak Park LAF) made a visit to the site accompanied by Mike Rhodes (Access and Rights of Way Manager). They are of the opinion that as many people as possible should be made aware of this malicious damage. Mike will be contacting the major 4x4 magazines and would also like the word spread through forums and at meetings of the user groups.
I spoke to Mike Rhodes today and he informed me that he has arranged a meeting with the owner of the moor (Sheffild City Council) and Natural England to decide on a course of action to prevent similar damage happening again. He hoped that the outcome of the meeting will not be a request for a vehicular TRO.
If you have any information about this incident then please contact Mike on 01629 816289/07798 587756 or email him at mike.rhodes@peakdistrict.gov.uk. He does prefer contact via email.
I have promised to investigate the possibility of a police presence across the moor, particularly during the weekends.

bottom off stanage seems to be all repaired now. drove past yesterday (thursday) there was a sandwich van at the bottom in the car park and the track seems to have been gravelled all the way up as  far as i can see as i was only in my car. As for Houndkirk i drove up there about 2 weeks back and it was all churned up just after the flat bitbefore the old quarry area (coming from Ringinlow direction. some muppet has had a right good go at trying to get up the bank. made a right mess of it.  Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad
