I'm thinking of fitting a dual fuel system to our truck. the system performs a flush just prior to stopping the engine whereby it switches back to diesel and burns off the last bit of veg oil between the fuel filter and the injectors.

I just wondered if anyone had any idea how much fuel would be in the system between the filter and the injector pump and how long at idling the engine would take to burn that much fuel.
I suppose the ideal would be to press the flush button when your at a suitable distance from your destination to burn that last bit of veg oil and leave the injector pump etc full of derv ready for the next cold start.

difficalt question............. Confused i will give you a sernario and may be it will answer it for you. i have a 3.1 with an old school injection pump ect.was very low on fuel and when round a rounderbout fast which put the fuel the wrong side of the tank to where the lines are but it took 3 mins or so befor it stalled from the air taken in
if you have a 3.0 then dont do it Exclamation these motors have got to be run on diesel only as the setup is sencertive and they use the oil as part of the fueling system. it will distroy the pump ect.  this is only going on the info that i have read on hear. the old 3.1 and 2.8 are ok for 50/50% but any more can do the pump seals right in. i would avoid it at all costs on the 3.0+the price to get it installed compaid to the difference in price for veg and dev,you would have to run it for 10 years befor you are in the black.

Sounds like you had a problem with the tank swir pot Wink  Going round roundabouts shouldn't cause stalls !!

As for dual fuels, for a 3.1 or 2.8, would work fine (running a pre-heated 100% mix), for a 3.0, in theory no probs, but depends on the pump and injector tollerences..

I was planning on leaving the existing tank in and using that for the veg and just add a small tank for the derv,. I've got the solenoid valves and I'm bidding on a dual electric/water pre-heater.  I've seen some heated filters as well.
