[b]Hi everyone ! perhaps someone has experienced the same issue . I have a 2001 3.0 citation auto , have had the injector recalls done , i run the car on a 50/50 mix of SVO/DERV. Have had a few issues with that with the oil thickenning , but have disconnected the egr etc . It had a new fuel tank fitted in Feb , supplied by myself but fitted by a dealer.
Over the past few weeks i have had trouble with the starter cranking the motor over. resulting in fridays spinning starter . Took the starter off , the clutch had broken , starter repaired , re installed and still when cranking over it spins then engages , then spins , but it did start it this morning. I have taken the starter off again and had it bench tested , all ok , i also whilst there decided to take off the gearbox to see if the ring gear was ok , some tiny marks but nothing to stop the motor from engaging or working properly.
the questions
Are there different starters for the 3.0l auto and 3.0l manual ? resulting in the starter not quite fitting correctly , i personally doubt it
do i try to start the motor by bypassing the ignition to see if the prob is the starter ? as i have heard from a vauxhall technician that the monterey has similar issues .
apart from over cranking the starter what could cause the starter clutch to brake ?
i have also heard that there is an issue with the ignition switch which could possibly cause the starter not to engage , Can anyone shed any light on that ?
be grateful for some help !
All the very best Tim |
