you need to slide it back it should drop through as you slide it along the torsion bar |

Cheers Grandad, what a bu66er that was. Much easier putting the Boshi filter back in, the old one was a pig, had to deform it to get it past the torsion bar.
Thanks again, at least I know which brand to stick to!

if you use the slim one that is the same as a 3.0 it is very easy to remove and refit ,milners didnt know that the 3.0 one fit until i told them the other week when i was up there getting some new filters |

It seems different manufacturers make them slightly differently anyway. Ive heard the Fram ones can also be tighter. not really a snag taking it off but you dont really want to be bashing a new one. _________________ 1992 3.1 Lotus Bighorn |

Strange this one, so many seem to struggle with these filters. I'm using Fram filters and whilst it's tight it's certainly not a problem. _________________ Every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff from out of my brain.

Not used one, just going by what Ive read. Cant be any tighter than the one I took off though, no way I could have doen that to a new filter, I did wonder how they got it in without unbolting stuff.
Big thumbsup for Milners Boshi filter though, piece of cake. _________________ 1992 3.1 Lotus Bighorn |

Ditto. It's a faf certainly especially if you are in the habit of pre-filling the oil filter before fitting _________________ If all else fails just nod, smile and say "Yes Dear"

I usually do fill it, as I said never had a problem, though I know many do. _________________ Every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff from out of my brain.

I've used a hammer and screwdriver to get the oil filter out as I could not get enough leverage with a filter wrench |

Subtle approach then, I use one of those 3 legged affairs on end of filter, nice and easy. _________________ Every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff from out of my brain.

I use a filter cup now. I had one of the three leg wrenches but it only worked one way. _________________ Front Aussie Locker - Rear LSD - Petrol Diffs

Why dose milner list 2 filters for the 3.1 a 5" for the manuel and a 6.5" for the auto? is it ok to fit the smaller one to the auto |
