|
|
Just done my first long haul with my trooper (new engine) with our caravan to cornwall. And ive averaged 32 mpg at average speed of 60 mph towing our caravan (Senator Bailey) weight approx fully laded 1600kg. Ive done towing the van 720 miles round trip She never missed a beat and performed fantasticly !! My last trip was with a Disco TD5 and that was embarasingly slow compared to the Trooper.. Also to mention on the trip i was in stand still-stop start traffic for 4 hrs of the trip (overturned caravans on the M5-A 30) Has any one had better fuel compsumption !1

That's bloody good no matter whether you are towing or not!
Sure you have got the correct tyre sizes on for the trip meter to read accurately?
I average about 27MPG when not towing and about 24MPG when towing - but to be fair haven't sat at steady speed for a decent length of time. Will be doing so in a couple of weeks so will see _________________ 3.0TD LWB Citation |

Was the van pushing you some of the way? the best Ive ever got was 29 mpg not towing anything and usually about 25 if I have been towing. |

I think you maybe miscalulating! To get 30mpg out of a 3.0 it needs to cover over 400miles on a tank,I would think that you're getting 23-25mpg. Mind you it is down hill from lancashire to cornwall:lol: |

The 3.0 is no less reliable than any other car on the road! Or it could be worse; it could be as bad as the new range rover I see far more of those broken down on the side of the road or on the back of recovery trucks than I've ever seen 3.0 troopers |

I wish i could agree with you.
You do know that the 3.0d 16v engine killed off the Trooper for good.
Sorry to go down that road again. _________________ I DIDN'T TOUCH IT, HONEST!

First week in July this year did Norfolk - Tiverton (Devon), towing 23 year old Trophy caravan, weighing about a ton, plus plenty of junk in the car, tools etc. Then drove around Devon and dartmoor for the week, (mostly doing back lanes in 2nd or 3rd, about 15mph!).
Then back to Norfolk.
Average (using 30% veg oil until home journey, then 100% white diesel)
28.7mpg.
Not bad in my view... _________________ '98S reg Irish Trooper 3.0DT Citation (LWB 7seat)
