Hi Guys
I'm hoping a few of the knowledgeable peeps on here may be able to help me?
I basically bought a 3.2 SWB trooper (1998) with LPG conversion, I bought the car with a starting problem. This problem seems to lie with fuel pump failure.
I can confirm that the fuel pump doesn't work, as no fuel comes out of either the inlet or return fuel hose. Bearing this is mind I used a external fuel pump and placed it into a can of fuel. So the fuel rail is now getting fuel and the return is flowing too the problem being that as I have doe this I would have expected the car to start, but no it still won't fire
The trooper attempts to cough a little but won't start , I know the engine is a runner as the car will fire up on easy start and switch over to LPG and run lovely, so I can eliminate coil packs, HT leads, AFM and spark plugs
I know the fuel rail is getting what it needs and if you push the valve on the fuel rail feed, fuel does indeed pour out so I'm now none of the wiser of where to go, the fault does seem to point to injectors, but surely all 6 can't fail
So my question really is does anyone have any pointers, of why the injectore won't fire. What controls them? is there a safety fuel cutoff switch which would kill the injectors? any help would be gratefully received
Also one other thing, does the anti-theft light flicker on and off when you try starting your trooper?
Cheers

Sounds like it is a high pressure pump. Maybe gravity isn't enough to force it into the system! Havn't dealt with the pump on these yet, so try replacing it. Even of you use a scrap yard one to test it! |

I know easy start isn't the best way to start engines
I haven't checked the fuel pressure regulator yet, how do you test it though?
I'm going to check the injectors are getting a pulse in a few mins (when it stops raining), if they are then it points to the fuel pressure regulator if they aren't then something electrical |
