i'm a paid up lifetime member and wouldn't be opposed to something like a £10 yearly fee, we all get something out of the forums so seems right we give something back, problem is how many active members are there out of registered members and how many of those will want to pay?! The insurance is there so like chris says a mass garage sale/auto jumble type thing  (they do it at Donnigton and call it a show!) invite trade stands and other marques along, landys always break and need spares  Twisted Evil  sure active club members would be willing to help with the running of things to help keep costs down. profits go to the club funds? just a thought  Rolling Eyes

I don't mind paying a bob or two each event I go on, nor would I mind paying a yearly fee.

One other idea (and I'm sure there could be loads) is a hundred club, an idea nicked from our Scout Group & many other clubs/groups/associations etc.

The basic idea is you pay £1 pm or £12 pa, every month there is a draw & the winner gets 50% of the money raised that month, e.g. month 1 Simon gets £20, draws a name out of a hat & someone wins £10, the rest goes towards Simon's costs. The following month, another 10 people join, meaning the pot is £30, the winner gets £15, Simon gets £15.

Membership of the hundred club doesn't necessarily have to mean membership of a YD club, you could buy a 12month membership for your little one or your wife or your nan - it doesn't really matter who, as 50p a month from that membership goes towards monthly winnings, 50p goes to Simon's costs.

Just an idea

Col

i just became a lifetime member, so will be getting my yellow diamond soon.  £25 is such a small price to pay.  Again highly unlikely that i will attend any meets as they are always much to far away.  Someone did suggest a meet in essex and i replied yes to that, but then nothing more came of it.

Well, I have found this to be the most valuable resource - must have saved me a packet. I'm not likely to attend events so I've just applied for Lifetime Membership via the Shop. I'd be happy to pay £25 PER ANNUM for the benefits I get from the Club. I hope enough folks are moved to do something so as to allow Simon to carry on his good work.
