First off I think it's a pity Simon has had to come to us asking for money, given that he was sponsoring the Yellow Diamond clubs through his Ltd company, this hopefully doesn't reflect his own personal financial situation! But now that he has I'm more than happy to contribute - but not by renewing my LTM what will that do to the figures, I'm proud of the fact that I'm LTM number 42, I don't also want to be number 84, 196 ..... etc.  So Iv'e just bought myself a pair of lovely yellow diamonds at the bargain price of £25. Superb value IMHO given what ITOCUK gives us all, so much so that I'll probably be back before long to buy some more. Very Happy

As for the idea of a club membership fee, I don't see a problem with that.  While I'm all for helping other folk out where ever possible, there are a lot of registered users out there that contribute nothing to the forum and hence nothing to the knowledge base.  e.g. I'm the 1517th registered user, but only LTM n.o.42! There are a hell of a lot of people out there getting advice and information free, gratis and for nothing, what do they give back? Nothing!  Why not restrict visitors and non paying members to a limited number of forums on which they can read only, but not post, allow them to see what other forums are available when they become a member, possibly allow posting on a very small number of forums, this way they can "try before they buy" but if they want the whole ITOCUK 'experience' they need to part with a certain amount of cash. Whats the hourly rate in a garage these days? Twisted Evil

Sorry mate just caught your post...Didn't mean to overrun it Embarassed

In total ... I received a couple of quid over £1200 in contributions and new LTM's ... notworthy

The annual server renewal has been paid ...

so - now I just need to get the momentum going to prepare for this time next year!!!

I didn't thank EVERY individual who contributed - I hope that the people involved already know how MUCH I appreciate their gestures of good-will!

Well ... I've said it before ...

If every registered ITOCUK member sent £1 a year - ITOCUK members alone would pay for the annual server renewal AND most of the annual insurances that are bought for the Club(s) ...

If everybody registered on any one of the YD Clubs sent just £1, as a one-off contribution, that would cover the next 7 years!!! Shocked

Every member that ever registered ... £1.

Thing is ... how do you determine an 'active' member ...

members who actually post?

members who log in?

It's a tricky subject that I've covered a number of times ... the nearest analagy is magazines ...

Who is an active reader of a magazine?  Somebody who buys it?  Are they only active if they actually subscribe, so 'buying over the counter' is/isn't included dontknow Perhaps it's only the few who write in to the letters page each month who are considered 'active' readers.  What about those who regularly read their mate's copy? Or those who just stand in the shop and browse the latest edition?

I'm really not in a position to define an 'active member' ... What I do know, from the server stats, is that there are far more people browsing the Club sites without logging in than are ever actually logged in at any particular time. Confused

Some people (maybe most) create a forum account because it instantly makes them feel more a part of the commuity here ... the point is, you don't HAVE to log in to view the majority of the site - so people often don't (log in).

Tricky hey?

ATB

Is it possible to give an account detail,so that those who wish to may set up a direct debit or standing order?
That way a dd of £1/mth or £5 every 3 mth(only an example) would mean a continuous small flow into the coffers,if this was done by all YD then with the club events as a bonus we would have no need of an annual "Mudsey" ITOC/POCOK In Need  Smile
Just a thought
Cheers
