I'm off up to the Dales green laning next weekend and think it's about time I bought a decent recovery strap but not sure what weight or length is best to get , there's a shop in Chesterfield selling 5 ton ones for £10 or 21ton for £30 and 6m long  Confused  Laughing any advice fellas  Wink

ive got a 5 ton ratchet strap thats about 25 foot long, we had a load of straw at the old farm and the driver left it on top of the load so i claimed it Wink

I dont think a 5 tonne one will last long in snatch recovery/ scrubbing on rocks etc. but should be fine for laning  Cool

i've got a selection of weights and lengths, smallest weight is 5 ton, got a kinetic rope too. don't forget rated shackles to go with the strap

Just found a found a webbing manufacturer in Chesterfield , they've got loads of straps for sale and do a 14 ton one with D shackles for £20

These kinetic strops are the muts.

I have tested one to the limit towing bogged 7.5 toner horse boxes out. Taking a three meter run into them and coming to a complete stop five or six times before they came out. Can't recommend them highly enough. Good price too.

Thing is with recovery you could easily tow a trooper with a 1 tonne strap, but when off road snatch recovery is used a lot and the forces involved are pretty extreme  Shocked
Anybody remember the seatbelt advert that said a small child in the back would hit you with the weight of an elephant  Shocked
