Could be a few things

Firstly the 3.0 will only work on 5w30 oil - if it cannot get to pressure it will not fire the injectors - try changing the oild

Next it maybe that the strainer has come loose/knackered - top up with two more litres - if she starts thats your problem (remember to take out the extra 2 litres!)

Oil pressure sensor could be knackered - not easy to check without dealer facillities

Dean

WHATEVER you do........ THROW AWAY that Easy Start! You can be sure to gain a whole load of problems you never had before even after the occasional use of that stuff!

Not being funny, but amongst the delights that that can give you are: broken starter ring gear, broken starter bendix, wrecked injectors, wrecked glow plugs, blown headgasket, broken piston rings......... I think you get the drift?

Go back to Tim's suggestions and start there!

Do come back if those things don't get you anywhere. By the way, do you have any more history? Did you buy a non-runner? Were there any sympoms leading up to it not starting, and so on......?

i got it as a non runner was told its not the timing belt but the previous owners did not know what it was i had a quick look and there is a long hollowed out bolt going into the engine which the fuel line joins onto so brought new bolt thinking this could be a nice cheap fix but how wrong i have been so far.

I'm not an expert on the 3.0 but I'll echo a few pointers
Oil strainer in the sump (as said add 2L of 5/30 to check)
Oil pressure sensor, you can join 2 wires together to fool the ecu (not sure which but someone will)
Brake light fuse (the same fuse powers the ECU
Crank sensor or cam sensor, needs a tech2 diagnostic.
Then again it could be a fuel problem, the pipes on top of the fuel tank are prone to rotting.

Marky is spot on with the above - try all these first. Plus if its the cambelt it could be slightly out of alignment... unlike older diesels the 3.0 will not fire unless it gets the correct readouts from the oil rail pressure sensor, crank position sensor and camshaft position sensor. If one of the three are missing it will not fire the injectors. Easy start will not help in this case... best bet if you are lost with the above is find a dealer with TECH2 as they can diagnose very quickly what is wrong.  Also... not sure where you are located... but if you are anywhere close to Oxford(ish) get it recovered to Cotswold Subaru & Isuzu.. they are 3.0 guru's!

some good info above, so what you can check is the strainer by making sure the oil level is on max then add a further 2 litres of 5/30 oil if it starts the strainer has broken and fell in to the sump so a new one will be needed, if it still wont run then remove the white wire from the big plug next to the dipstick tube. this will bypass the sensor and if it starts then a new rail pressure sensor is needed.

the one they mean isn't a banjo bolt it's about 3-4 inches long and is basically a tube with a thread at each end
