|

It doesn't seem to matter what temp it is, my Bighorn only glows for about 4 secs. Once started it smokes a and rattles around for awhile before smoothing out. I've tried unplugging the coolant temp sensors to see if it will make it cycle longer, but it does not. Does anyone have an experience like this and a way to solve it. Winter's coming and I want a truck that will start better. _________________ 92 Bighorn 3.1TD |

OK then, i'm not 100% but theres a box about the size of a 20pkt of cigerettes at the front near the n/s headlamp, previous posts said it was the outside temp sensor for the heater plugs ? _________________ |

I've looked for that temp sensor. Is it by the driver or passenger side headlight, up high or down low?
Thanks _________________ 92 Bighorn 3.1TD |

Drivers side behind the bumper is a large sliver box held on by 2 10mm bolts. It's got 12V stamped on the front of it. If you've fog lights it's just above these. _________________ For great insurance deals on 4x4s, imports and more, contact Adrian Flux :

I unplugged the sensor and it didn't seem to make any diff to the glow plug cycle time or starting. Does it need to be jumpered to make things think it's colder than it actually is? _________________ 92 Bighorn 3.1TD |

sorry i dont understand the question?
the temp sencer detects the temperature and then holds the glow plugs on for a longer or shorter period.
on mine .8 sec when cold and 2 sec when engine is warm.
if you turn the ignition on and wate for the glow plug light to go out, then turn the ignition off and then back on and wate again for the glow plug light to go out before turning her over. if she fires up with no probs you will need to change the temp sencer if that makes sence _________________ presumption is the mother of all f**kups |

Which temp sensor needs replacing? The one behind the bumper or a coolant temp sensor? If coolant sensor, which one? _________________ 92 Bighorn 3.1TD |
