Hi Guys,

Some help and advice plz.

I will try and cut a very long story short.

Basically 4 months ago I bought a 2004   3.0TD  Rodeo off eebuygum . ( it was very very cheap )

The truck had done a lot of miles and the previous owner killed the engine.

In the service history / bills a replacement 2.8 engine was fitted but with the 3.0 turbo bits and bobs ??

The truck drives great (just a tad slow) but I am using it to tow a large caravan.

My only problem is that under hard acceleration there is a black fog behind me.

I have tried injector cleaners in the tank but no difference.

I will also mention that the guy I got it off mentioned he used to have a problem with it pressurising??? so he diverted a pipe thats located close to the firewall ?? (I can take a photo and post if this may help) - Do I need to worry about this?

Over the last 4 months the trucks done 3,000 miles and never let me down, it just smokes!!!!!!!

Is there a manual available for the Rodeo?

Thanks

Ade

Theres a link to the 2.8 engine manual in the engines section, it wont work if you use vista with all the gubbinns switched on though.
Ive got the 2.8 rodeo manual and its the same engine.

Thanks for that, does the black smoke sound like an injector problem     ??

I am unsure, everything works fine all the dash lights work, illuminate and go out. The engine bay looks unchanged and unmolested???

I'm with marky here, can u send us some pics so we can try and identify the engine Wink

If it is overfueling, instead of backing it off you could take advantage of it and fit a larger intercooler (if possible) and gain a more power Very Happy

If it has had a replacement engine I take it that this the new replacement engine i.e the one that came in later Rodeos?
