Hi all here we go again ( god i loved all my 3.1 td troopers but beginning to hate the 3 ltr )

Left car ticking over while stood at the side chatting to someone

engine suddenly stopped with no warning would not start

got it trailered home

had a quick look for obvious diesel seems to be getting through

brake lights work, and recently had new oil rail pressure sensor and throttle control body

Now only other thing I have noticed is now not getting glow plug light when turn ignition on

infact only getting handbrake...... oil....... and baterry light......... air bag goes off aftr afew seconds

think I got afew more lights beside glow plugs before.........but can not remember

read all the other articles and going to try the two more ltrs of oil for the strainer tomorrow ( today 1am )
but would it have just stopped for this

looking forward to your help

many thanks simon

as you have had a new sensor you are now down to either the strainer, rail pressure control valve, or high pressure pump or at a long shot crank sensor not reading correctly.

apart from the strainer which you can test with the extra oil  the others will need a tech2 to diagnose

Thanks for your sound advice again

Do isuzu pay you for all this advice time keeping us 3.0 ltr guys on the road  ??

Not had chance to try the oil thing today, but hopefully tomorrow

Is it just a coincidence the glow plug light is not comming or can it be connected

Like because one thing is not registering it shuts the starting system off ??

With regard to the tech two ......... is it better to get it back isuzu dealer again !!!!!!!

or let the local electronic guys who say they can read the data have a bash  ??

they are alot cheaper

many thanks simon

I'd also check all your fuses etc as I suppose it could be an electrical fault?

I'm wondering about the lack of dash lights, too.

Eithan - if the ECU went belly up would you still get the glow plug light, Check Engine light and so on?

Had an hour or so on the car today

Had all the fuses and relays out in car and engine bay put them back in.......... no joy

filled to top mark and put 2 extra ltrs of oil in ............no joy

still not getting the glow plug light either

one further thing noticed while cranking over not starting the anti theft little red light lights up

I do not suppose any of you can check this on your troopers as yours will all start

I think all that is left to do is to get it on the tech 2 maybe bite the bullet ( hard ) and back to isuzu dealer

will keep you posted

oh yes have drained the extra oil out again before i forgot

get paid for it! i wish but isuzu couldn't afford me!!!!! Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  this is all voluntary

topvaux the answer is yes you will still get all the lights up if the ecu has gone belly up

if it's cheaper then give them a go but unless they have the isuzu software i don't think they will be able to read some of the data,
to get these things to start the ecu needs to see oil pressure, crank and cam signals if it doesn't it wont start,  see if the electronics guys can read these if not get it to a dealer

Hi guys just had the fault on this trooper located

bit of a 4 month delay as I went and bought a good old 3.1 trooper to put me on

anyway its the ECU

the dealer wants £1234 plus vat

its a T 1999 3 ltr so only really worth £2,000

anyway hoping to get the ecu repaired as not paying out for a new one

They make that figure up? Laughing

I have seen a few 2nd hand ecu's for sale, may be a cheaper option but it will need it's immobilizer switched off or recoded.

No, that's the sort of money I was quoted before I found BBA Reman.

If you do find a cheap used ECU you can simply swap the EEPROM chip which will transfer all the immobiliser codes and so on. That is, actually, what BBA ended up doing for me because my ECU was unserviceable.

Hi all

Just to finish off got the ecu refurbished

by ecu testing near nottingham

a fast service they did it one day

the price £195 plus vat and £8 postage   Total £234.49

2 year warranty

THATS ONLY A SAVING OF £1,185 ON ISUZU PRICE, hardly worth mentioning !!!!!!!

of course the dealer charged me another £80 for coding it in to everything

the ecu place told me the ecu going pop on the 3 ltrs is very common

and they have done loads

often caused by jump starting

or charging without disconnecting batterries

I recently did both of these prior to fault............

SO ALL OF YOU BE CAREFULL

But anyway running again

not sure for how long with these 3 ltrs

cheers
