Question

Hope this make some sence thanks for looking Mick. Confused

P.S. Posted this on a vauxall site three days ago and not one reply,is my spelling that bad. Crying or Very sad

1974 ?
The gearbox should be the same, its in the casting near the clutch lever F10, F12 etc
I take it the engine is single point injection ? The only thing I can think of that maybe different is the ecu itself, I think the wiring is the same.

Its been a while so I may be totally wrong, the ecu gets feed from the map sensor and crank sensor, the wiring should be the same, I think the immobilizer is a seperate unit ?

right according to my mate who is a vauxhall nut

this is his reply

engine looms are different from 16v to 8v and so are the ecu's (mainly)

if you have the engine loom of 8v then dead easy

you will need the ecu and key sensor thats around the barrel of the key although check the code numbers of the ecus as some of the early models were the same ecu

If it's a '94 you should get away with swapping the engine along with its appropriate engine wiring harness and ECU. You can't mix-'n'-match harnesses or ECUs. I don't think you'll have a problem with the gearbox which should swap OK. The engine harness does plug straight into the ECU, yes. The immobilizer is a separate module on a 94, I think you'll find, so it won't mind you swapping engines.

Hi sorry to drag this on but still not sure whats what so I'll try to explain a bit better.

I have a 1994 corsa 1400 16 valve with transponder key.

Iwant to take out the knackerd engine,also/gearbox/ecu/wiring loom,

I want to replace with 1994 1400 8 valve/gearbox/wiring loom/ecu.no problem so far.

The 8 valve car did not have a transponder in it.When I put it in this car wich did have a transponder

will the car start, and will it mean it will be transponder free from then.

I'm OK with nuts and bolts but the rest Embarassed  Embarassed

Thanks for any help Mick

I'm pretty sure that the immobilizer system in a 1994 car was independent of the ECU.

I am equally pretty sure that if you swap all the bits as discussed your original transponder key will continue to work via the original immobilizer module which will not be disturbed by the work you are doing.
