I believe they have to be plugged in to a computer, you should have to prove you own it aswell.

Many thanks for the replies.  I was looking to get the old Clarion working a) because I'm tightfisted and b)... no, it's pretty much because I'm tightfisted, but £40 for a new one sounds good.  I've only had the Monty for a few days but this website was a huge help buying it, I walked away for quite a few before finding this one.
