Finally picked up a new lens today... got a Sigma 70-300mm from Jessops for £127.77 - should sit nicely alongside the 18-55 kit lens. Just need to learn how to use the camera now _________________ Isuzu Rodeo Denver Max LE | 265/65R18 BF Goodrich AT LTM No.60

I had one of them a couple of years ago and sold it to a mate who still uses it, they are probably the best non canon lens in that focal range and price range, it won best buy in all the magazines I checked before I bought it. |

I currently use the canon 1D mkiii with f2.8 24-70 as main and also have a second 30D with a 1.5 extender on a 70 - 200 f4 plus many other bits but if i'm honest id pay more and get a gen canon lens rather others but it all depends on what your intending to shoot.

The 450d is a great little camera, I just got rid of mine since I have the new 1ds on order and wont be using it anymore as a second body. The best value for money lens I ever got for my 450 was the "nifty fifty" canon 50mm mk2 f/1.8, was about 60 quid and it was never off the camera! I also used the f/1.4 version of this lens but the price difference to the 1.8 was just too high in comparison to the image quality improvement. Maybe not a good all round len (you walk closer or back a bit instead of zooming ) but its a great lens for the cash, and I bet the images you take will blow you away compared to the kit lens. |
