wtf,  i,ve bought my daughter some games for our playstation 3, ive just turned it on and it won,t play any ps3 games  Crying or Very sad  Crying or Very sad  but is fine with any ps2 games.   its too late to send it off for repair before xmas morning.

don't suppose anyone has any ideas,  has anyone opened one up and cleaned the lens??

warrantee is up so not worried about making it void.

Best thing to do is a search on yahoo or whoever you use, that'll come up with something.

Is it the 80gb one ?
You could try recovering from the recovery partition on the hdd, but from what I have been told it will happen again within a few days.

Its the 160gig one, i googled it and was told to try reformating it, that took 4 hours to do but its still the same.

i got it to play a couple of the new games after about 20 attempts earlier,  but it won't register any ps3 disks that go in now.

just been out and had a close shave  Shocked  when the accelerator peddle started sticking on the troop, the belt snapped on my tumble dryer this morning

whats gonna happen next? the days not over yet. Rolling Eyes

I presume they are two seperate incidents, not one causing another?  Laughing  Laughing

On a more serious note, glad to hear you are ok. With the PS3 problem, two options spring to mind:

1/ send it back for a replacement & explain on Xmas morning the last pressie will be arriving in a week or two
2/ pack it all up & wrap it & pretend everything is ok &when the inevitable tears arrive, explain it can be sent away for replacement
