just thought i would post.

I bought my 51 plate trooper approx 9 months ago with 41k miles on the clock. at the time of purchase I questioned the re-call and the dealer contacted SG petch in richmond to check whether the re-call had been done.

it hadn't but was promptly booked in and done under ewarranty.

I have since covered approx 20k miles and 2 weeks ago the engine started missfiring and chugging with 1 cylinder off. i took the car to dennis Common in Longframlington near Morpeth and they again diagnosed a dodgy injector. they had to check the serial numbers on the injectors but again the warranty held good and a full set of injectors was fitted.

at the same time the cam belt was due so i got them to change that as well.

i think Izuzu are pretty good. i don't think many companies would warrant £1000 repairs on an 8 year old car.

other problems in my ownership:

rusty fuel tank top pipes (it is worth everybody dropping their tanks to clean paint and dinitrol their chassis and underbody in this area.

other than gen servicing the car has been pretty reliable.

I think it is a cautionary tale though even after injector work ensure you check your oil weekly.

Neil.

Thought mine was playing up last weekend but it turned out to be a false alarm, I hope, I check the oil every time with it sat in the same place and usually after its not been run since the day before but the oil seemed much much higher than it has previously so I was all worried about the injectors but took it to the dealers and they couldn't find anything wrong, bit embarrassing but I suppose its better to be safe than sorry. Embarassed

I bought my Trooper last summer and after a few weeks found diesel in the water, the guy that does the work here on behalf of UMI tryed to get me to buy a second had engine Rolling Eyes so I took the Troop to a diesel specialist lol he really ------ it up and I found out about the recall thing on this forum.
so i went above the UMI bloke and a guy who was the area inspector told him to do everything.I had a new head, injectors, belts, oil change and filter, flushed rad and new anti corrosion fluid,2 betteries and it still didn't work lol only joking im a happy bunny now I did have to make a contribution of about 350 quid not so bad after all a full service would cost more than that.
It drives like a dream now the water hasn't gone down at all and its use a tad of oil.
