if you have got 1 of these and are in a poor coverage area and get stuck in 3g mode with no signal, dont bother ringing 3 as they dont want to know,
what i did yestaday was flashed the phone to firmware 31.0.017, what you have to-do thought is alter the product code otherwise it wont flash to this version,
there is a program called NSS that lets you change the product code, i changed mine to euro1 0534841 and then flashed it, the software then changes and you can change the network to either dual mode, UMTS or GSM,
now works as it should  only thing is the hot keys don't work
DONT FORGET TO BACK UP THE PHONE BEFORE HAND otherwise you lose anything saved in the phone and remember that doing this will also invalidate your warrenty
