When should I use the Quick warming up switch on my 2000 SWB 3.0L TD Trooper?

It is a flap under the turbo and could be a problem when used, as it can stick on and give untold problems as previous post advised

Because in some colder parts of the world it may be necessary to use them but its not here so they never get used so then when they are they get stuck, and I was under the impression that the 3.0 wasn't prone to sticking like the earlier Troopers, I may be wrong though. Confused

The 3.0 warm up rarely sticks as its only on the exhaust side... the 3.1 had them pre-engine and could stick shut starving the engine of air.

Chris is correct

They are not prone to problems on the 3.0

I use mine in cold weather - does it make a difference - no f**ing idea to be honest Smile

I've used mine on my 3.0 and it doesn't stick. It would nearly always stick on my previous 3.1s. It makes a funny whistly noise which attracts attention but it turns itself off when you drive off and comes back on again when you stop again.

Like Tim, I can't say I've noticed any particular benefit and I therefore don't bother with it - especially because it saves winding the window down to hear passing waggle-heads telling me there's something wrong with my engine!  Rolling Eyes hilarious

i used mine once just to see what happened and it nearly killed my engine, for about 400 yards up the road, you couldnt see behind for the black smoke, and power wise it was like it was towing a 20ton weight, absolutely no go at all and it took about 10 mins for it to run right after, NEVER AGAIN

That doesn't make any sense to me. The only one that could stick is the one in the exhaust due to coke build up. The on in the inlet is always clean with a film of oil on it, in fact they tend to weep oil onto the rocker cover from where the shaft sits in the inlet. They are always as free as a bird when you move them!
