3.1td swb 208,000km (129,000miles) monday afternoon 20 litres of regular diesel and 20 litres of biodiesel. Spoke to the last owner on monday night and he told me that the fuel filter along with a major service and timing belt change and all other belts was done at 197,000km. So when can I expect to have to change the fuel filter.....just a rough estimate.

I have bought two and have kept them in the trooper. Is it an easy job, can it be done by the side of the road if need be, or should I try and change it before the coughing and spluttering starts?

Servce interval on filter i beleave to be at 80000m on the 3.0 but don't know about the 3.1
If its a canister type filter it should be easy to change.

Runnind biodiesel cleans out the mineral deposits left by straight diesel so your filter interval doesn't apply anyway.
If you notice any loss in power or rough running then change the filter as a first port off call.

recently bought a 3.1 trooper and have been reading the forums on svo / wvo  / biodiesel.
there is a place near me that sells processing plants fron 50l capacity upwards but also sell processed biodiesel at 89p a litre.

I'm looking to fill it up with bio diesel - would this be ok or would it be adivsable to have some forecourt diesel in as well?

I would go for about 25% bio to start then work up from there.  Also get 5 litres in a can, when u get home put some in a glass jar and let it stand. It should be light in colour and clear. If it isn't then don't use it. U can use straight veg but there can be long term effects on the engine.

if you install a fuel pressure gauge inline after the filter, you will be able to tell when your filter needs replacing. be sure to make a note of the reading when installing a new filter, so you have the correct idea of the pressure to start with.
