No  , milliamperes like its says on the meter  -  1000 to the amp  Smile  When the ignitions off the clocks not visible  is it  so no current to light the figures up ?

Most I could measure was 0.020 ma's key out door not locked ,thought 10 micro amps =100ma's  ? Ties in with eithans 0.050 ma's for scoobys wi extra bits on .

LOL

micro is 1000 times larger than milli and 1000 times smaller than nano.

It's easy to get confused with bleedin' digi meters; gimme an Avo a ,bradley or anything with a needle that moves anytime.  Very Happy

You probably need to ignore the decimal point on your meter when reading on the 1000 ma range.  Smile  so what you thought was 0.010ma is actually 10ma.

P.S - an average quartz clock module will draw about 500 nano amps just for the oscillator module that runs all the time - 500 nano amps= 0.5 ma.  Your  0.01ma reading is far too tiny to be correct.  Smile

Hope that helps  Cool

No it's not. Embarassed ......micro is 1000 times smaller that milli and 1000 times larger than nano and 1000000times larger than pico.

LOL  too much lager. Very Happy

DAB.
Hey guys, this Legacy battery "drain" problem is turning into a real humdinger, with so many twists and turns, and a whole new language .... millis/micros/nano/picos etc.
For somone who isn't sure what a percent is, but I'm certain that there must be hundreds of them... all these "negative powers of 10" have me reaching for some 70% by volume anaesthetic!
Latest "news":
Using key fob locking only, which I believe also has an immobiliser fuction, there was no battery drain at all over 36 hours.... 12.60 volts start and finish.
I contacted local alarm specialist company to ask for advice about current draw in a Sigma M30 system. Response was pretty hopeless ...... "shouldn't be any more than about 0.5amp, and the battery will go flat if you don't use the car regularly". Brilliant!
Didn't add to my stock of knowledge, or rather decrease my ignorance. Handbook for alarm gives no consumption data.
May try RR's "jump lead" arrangement, once I fathom it out. My meter only has range of 200microamps to 200milliamps, then jumps to 10amps DC. I may temporarily forget arming with Sigma, and if I can't measure draw, see if an alarm "specialist" can.

My Trooper is heading to local dealer for injector check and cambelt change. I'll ask if they have had any similar problems with Sigma alarms. I'm not sure if it's a standard fitting; this car came via Malta to Motorpoint.
The dealer wasn't aware of latest check and potential injector replacement programme. Fills me with confidence.

Meantime many many thanks for taking time to advise.

Hi Dab dont think you need to investigate any further, the figure you calculated ties in closely to sigmas fig of no more than.5A(500 mA) so its forget the sigma alrm or perhaps fit a solar poered charger?

if you have 3 wires going in to the plug on the alternator then it has the smart charge system where it only charges if the ecu says it can so you could go for a run in it and it not charge the battery at all park up and the voltage could be a lot lower than when you first went for the drive.

just thought i'd add that if it makes any difference!

Hang on ,shouldnt make any difference as Dab is looking at battery voltage drop after engine shutdown.Over a known period of non-running.
