Hi all Rob from Australia.

1998 3.0.

Injectors and harness done 2 years ago, been ok till now.
All of a sudden running rough,spluttering 750 to 2000rpm.

Blowing white smoke on startup.

Cleaned harness.
oil in again in the morning.

Cut plug out completly, replaced with generic one.
No diffrence.

Replaced orps.
No diffrence.

New Castrol Edge Sport 5/30,both oil filters.
No diffrence.

Water level perfect, over 4 years,so no water getting into cylinder overnight.

Disconnected egr.
No diffrence.

Any Ideas????????.

A question for Ethan I think it is.
I have not yet had the oprs reset with tec2,getting done on wednesday.
Could it make that much diffrence?????

Over here orps cost me $250 Aussie dollars, from Zupps Aspley if this is cheaper than there maybe worth your while doing a Google.

Rob.

white smoke is lack of fuel so try bypassing the fuel filter housing and see what that does as they do leak air, also fit some clear pipe and watch for air bubbles which would mean it's sucking air through a fuel line somewhere.
it could also be low oil up to the injectors  so try the extra 2 litres above the max mark this will rule out the strainer seal.

try these and get back to us!

Thanks Eithan.

Ok.
2L extra oil, I have a new car.
Runs fantastic, check engine light on for first time ever (supposing this is because of too much oil).

Drained 2L oil, spluttering etc.

Dropped sump pan hoping to find pipe in sump,or cracked and hanging etc.
No such luck.

Pipe perfect,no cracks,not off,no blockage.
Blew through the other oil pickup pipe also, all good.

??? Seal maybe,it had a little bit of play.

Thank you for your quick responce,I really apreiciate it.
Rob.

Tried to upload picture but no luck.
Pipe is like new.

Sorry another ps.

Oil pressure dropped on gauge by 100kpa to 550 kpa when extra oil in.
Picked back up to 650kpa when 2L drained.

sounds like it's defo sucking air then through the seal so a new seal and a decent sealant should do it, isuzu use stuff made by threebond but as long as it doesn't get effected by oil then anything should be ok.
the check engine light won't come on with the extra 2 litres of oil in it it's probably the throttle body thats causing that one and i have no idea why it effects the oil pressure either !

Thanks for that.
Used gasket sealant, same as oil pan.

Welded a stiffner bracket on opposite side of pipe, and beefed up where mounting hole is,no wobble now.

Will keep you posted.

Hi all.
Left car overnight so gasket sealant could cure before oil.
Filled with oil to the very top of dipstick full mark.
No white smoke.
Didn't run as well as first putting in the extra 2L oil.

Still has slight hesitation and flutter, like a small fast miss.
Put 2L oil back in,no diffrence.

I will have my new oprs calibrated and see what happens.
Anyone want a 2 year old oprs in good nick,(Didn't need changing afterall), no cracks,no oil coming out under pressure.
$20 pounds including post.
Rob.

Today on startup, heaps white smoke for 5 mins, running rough.
Put 2L oil in again,no good.
Drained 2L oil.

Removed fuel filter again and put a transparent inline filter in.can't see any air bubbles flowing through, although there is an air lock in the filter, which doesn't seem to make any diffrence it is half full.

Any Ideas please.
I am still to have the orps recalibrated tomorrow, but doubtful if this is the fault.

Another couple of things.
When I first put the 2L extra oil in it sounded like a diesel truck, like something rattling.
Then ran perfect until I dropped the 2L.

Also when you excelerate at about 1200-2000 it splutters?? put the foot down as if your trying to clear a fouled spark plug and heaps of black smoke???

Sounds just like an orps thats not been set for the black smoke ,I think you are going to need a plug into a tech II to nail the rest down.

can you bypass the filter housing by putting the fuel in pipe straight to the pump and see what that does
