It works on a duty ratio so if you have a multimeter that will do it use that setting, if you don't get a reading check the green plug under the inlet manifold as I have had one burn the pin out that resulted in a non start.

dragging this very usefull old post up again

had another non starter today

so finally made my high pressure oil pipe tester

quite easy 12 L nut and olive to to bsp female to another adapter to gauge

anyway on one non starter no oil pressure cranking over

tried another runner cranking over loads of pressure on the gauge

stripped the non starter and the valve was stuck solid

..........so tester worked

seems to be becomming a regular fault for me had 3 this year

if anyone suspects ORCV and does not want to strip it all down could send this to check

think will make the mark 2 version eventually

flexi hose and T piece so can use on a running engine...to see pressures

cheers

simon

Just a little tip to add to this excellent post  Very Happy
When refitting the solenoid connector, reomve the oval sealing ring from the female solenoid side, then apply a little silicone sealant to the wiring (male) connector, slide on the rubber oval sealing ring, then apply a little more silicone.
You won't accidently insulate the 2 wiring pins with the silicone, as it will be pushed out of the join, not into it (standard plumbing procedure!) but you will get a better waterproof joint, and you won't snag the oval ring, which is what caused my last engine failure...the oval ring stopped the connector locating fully, and it gradually worked its way out!

Impossible to see when doing the job, but caused untold problems trying to identify later!  Very Happy

Hi giys i know iys an old post but.... i am new here and am about to try this on my trooper... im a complete novice and not the best with technical stuff! But god loves a trier or so I have been told. Question is would it make a big difference to remove the ecu etc first or will I be able to get it out without removing it... any other advice would be massively appreciated!

Just done it..... Jesus that was a nightmare 😂😂 took the ecu out..... went to put the leccy connector back on the housing and the bloody rubber seal fell out! Too dark to find it so that's tomorrow's job haha.... anyways picked into the valve and seemed to moving ok , won't know if it made a difference until I put it back together... if she doesn't start any new ideas? Like I said it seemed to be free.... what happened as a brief history I was in the motorway and my rad popped and check engine light came on, topped it up to move the car and wouldn't start. Replaced the rad and fan now so tried this whilst I was in there so fingers crossed but I'm not hopeful... sorry for the essay.
