was out on a road rally this morning and took a short cut to get to my control and took a nice little green lane, at 3.20am (found out later they were using it on the rally)

Well, where do I start? You see I did all my driver training in Durham/North Yorkshire.
And a lot of off road driving across the North Yorkshire Moors and Dartmoor. Times? The Army
dosen't take any notice of time! Most movements were in the dark. Early.
Lights? Just one. A 5 watt bulb aimed at a 9 inch round disc under the rear of the vehicle. For the one behind to follow!
Used to get up 'early' in N.I. to go up the mountain at Magiligans Point, 2ft of snow most of the time I was there.
But the trip to the Rebro at the back of Strabane via Londonderry was a bit hairy.

I did a lot of all night laning in Germany, I couldnt tell you where as I was also following a disk under another truck
But if we are talking for pleasure then that was a club meet at Filey 2006, chasing rabbitts around a field at 2.30am _________________
A couple of pics and two vids from stanage edge at 01:00am. Went down then up, this was before they built it up on one side to make it easy. There is a big drop on one side and you can't see it at night Very hard drive when you can't see anything closer than 10 foot in front of you!
Nearly headbutted the windscreen in this one
For those who don't know what it looks like in the daylight...
On road they are fantastically grippy even in the wet, the ride is smooth due to nice flexible sidewalls.
Off road they are great on rock (as you would expect) and surprisingly good in mud. I say surprisingly as i thought they would be BFG mud *beep* due to the tight center blocks. What saves them is the big lug gaps and directional lugs, this means they clean out much better than a BFG type. They will never be as good as a proper directional mud tyre but for me they are the perfect compromise for the road miles I do.
The two ply side walls that give the nice road manners would be very easily cut and damaged when aired down.
If you are into serious off roading leave them alone, they are way more vunrable than my old recips and don't hold up in the mud/grass, but are a bit better on rock. Think of them as a road tyre with off road tread. _________________ Front Aussie Locker - Rear LSD - Petrol Diffs
