Got troop back late friday pm (Huzzaah  Very Happy ) after DMF and clutch replacement.Took all replaced parts back with me.
Visually there are no signs of failure, when you get hold of the inner(clutch drive face)you can move it relative to the outer, but that's after failure.
What I did notice, before failure there was sideways movement in the gearstick( -6:0:+6 mm---about 1/2 inch in all),after the DMF was replaced it is now rock steady....Perhaps this is the indication that the DMF is starting to go,a bit of "slop" in it at idle causing movement in the sytem as it catches up with itself.
When (IF  Rolling Eyes ) I get a chance this week,I'll try and get the thing apart and see exactly what the failure mechanism is.
So if anyones got some bright ideas  Idea ...We have a full donor set for examination/matching etc......
A big  thumbleft to LifeStyle Europe Tunbridge Wells, who carried out the work..See "Feedback/Isuzu Dealers"
Cheers all
              One very happy Robbo......

Oh ok , if it uses springs as a damper then the must have a reaction point on the the two halves ? If the springs are broken then the two halves must be spinning free so maybe just a new set of springs will do it ? If the mounting points have bent or worn a small welding job might do ,lets see some pics  so we can see where to put the pk's  Smile

I think Eithan and/or Gribble has said that a shaking gearstick is one of the first symptoms.

I stopped worrying about stuff like that years ago. I developed these huge ears and eyes which really hindered me so I stopped worrying and waited until something fell off before worrying. Funny thing is, since that time - nothing's ever fallen off or failed..  Laughing

What do they say? If it ain't broke - fix it until it is!

Quite true.... thumbleft

As  far as the gear shake goes that started about a day before falure, along with a strange bit of vibration, changes from the norm.
If you've always had a bit of wobble, then that's the norm so I wouldn't worry, its only if you get a change from what is normal for your truck.

So before (Dual) Mass hysteria starts creeping in....DONT PANIC....

After I had my new flywheel fitted the gear stick was very tight and didn't move at all, gear change was a little stiff as well, few months down the line and its all freed up a bit, i just put it down to everything being tightened up after it all being put back together.
