Made myself some rock sliders to replace the old aluminium side steps that had taken alot of abuse and were not giving the sils or body much protection.

I wanted to bolt it onto the frame so that it could be removed if needed. Although not as strong as welding it on.... it is more than enough for the job it has to do.

materials used were:
50 x 50 x 5mm SHS for the main length runner and legs back to the frame
48 x 4mm Tube for the hoop and legs
6mm flat for frame brackets
1/2" grade 8 bolts

There are 2 legs that go back and clamp around the frame, and 1 that mounts to existing cross member bolts. the existing gearbox support crossmember is very strong and seemed like an ideal point to pick up from.

The basic structure tack welded together.

Front mount for attatching to existing gearbox crossmember bolt positions

Notched into the legs to clear the body seam under the sil. didn't want to cut the seam out on the vehicle so did it this way.... not as strong but should still be more than enough.

used a 48mm hole saw and drill press to drill through the tube sideways to create the perfect shape for fitting to the main hoop rail.  Cool came out really nice

Got the main hoop bent up by an exhaust shop using a hydraulic tube bender. The guy was not sure at first because of the heavy wall section, but it bent no problems at all Cool

clearance above the lower link is tight and I measured it at least twice to be sure that it will miss under full articulation

tacked together ready for welding
