Just thought people might have some input on this...I am just discussing with Watling Engineering the cost of a front towbar for my Citation, but modding it to provide the ability to put a towball on each side and a winch bar in the middle...when I have some definites I'll post them up...

Shouldn't be too hard.   They put both a centre and an offset towbar tube on mine  Smile

It's a good time to Spray some WD40 around the threaded holes in your front chassis rails - believe me , after a few years of grime & rust they're a pig to bolt into for the towbar frame.  Rolling Eyes

Good plan...off to do it now!
I had an extra offside & centre point added, so its got three points, and an extra bar being sent to make my winch mount... Smile

Like the idea of a front tow bar on mine would make getting my van on my drive much easier

That's the whole idea behind mine...shunting trailers and vans...

Ive just paid £200, with mods, but the original bar is £155. I'll be doing fitting step by step guide so you can all see!

I'm intrigued.

Are we talking about 2 towbars so you can make a twin hitch winch carrier, or one towbar you pop a ball mount winch carrier onto?

Certainly better than having to buy/make a winch bumper, and it might mean you could pop the winch on the back to pull you out of whatever hole you fall into...

We are talking about one towbar on the back, and one at the front with three potential mounting points/towballs - one to each corner and one in the centre...yes, for me to hang a towbar mounted winch onto, only im not planning to have to fit a ball, then hang the winch, im planning to have a separate removable mount for the winch...

But, before everyone gets carried away with ball mount winches, most of them arent powerful enough to pull a trooper anywhere...mine is for hauling something to the truck, not the truck to somewhere.

I'm looking at a drop pin de-mount winch mounting system.

Well, I followed the advce. Even went as far as to try and work some bolts in and out of the holes...
Only,
The front bar didnt use the holes that I had been working on!!!!  So, anyway, after a long saga with Fedex, the bar was retrieved, and fitted last night.  Slightly concerned as only 4 bolts hold it to the car, but that said, its certainly solid.  Im just perhaps paranoid about something that heavy dropping off.

The job took as suggested, about an hour.  It was a big help to have two people at it, and I'll get some pics of it up soon.  Watling Engineering were very smooth and efficient, and its a really nice bar.  Bit dissapointed with the painting of the bar, as by the time it had arrived half of the paint was chipped off in transit.  That asside, nice touch the three rubber bungs that block of the bar tubes.

Decided that the whole area could do with a waxoyl treatment, so if anyone wants to nick the bar, its nice and sticky  Wink

All that remains is some pics!  (maybe tomorrow, after changing an EGR on  berlingo, after dropping the sump on the troop.)
Off into a forest today to do some light haulage...with, of course, my faithful steed!

You'll get some strange looks at the front of your car once you have a front tow hitch  Smile  Smile

One bloke in North Berwick even tried to have a go at me when he reversed into my front tow hitch in a Tesco car park!!  no harm was done apart from a crack in his Mercedes bumper  Very Happy  I was parked well within the marked bay but apparently I was somehow responsible due to the tow hitch not being 'painted orange' (his suggestion).  I politely suggested he learn how to park properly or get an eye test done  Evil or Very Mad

Some people, eh?  Very Happy      Very Happy

Its a detachable ball, so nothing protrudes unless I want it to.  So Ive taken it inside, as I figured ill walk into it at some point if I dont!

...think I'd have responded as you did though!
