Having had my electrics damaged for the second time due to recovery has anyone found a better way of mounting the electrics so that they are not right behind the tow ball?

Also does anyone know a cheap place to get a universal tow hitch - the sort with tow ball and pin?

There was a thread on here that I posted ... I mounted the electrics on my 3.0 LWB using some of these plates from towsure... it allowed me to mount them to the crossmember behind the bumper.

Hi Chris

Did you drill into the cross member to attach the plates?

I'm sure you could mount one to a bumper, holesaw and a homemade bracket inside it.  Are NATO trailer sockets surface mount as fitted to military landrovers etc?  You may need to rewire the trailer though as i think the pins are different.

Yes - I had to mount them on long bolts with sections of tube over to step them down a little...  im sure I have a diagram on the home PC.
