The general advise here is to get recalls done if there are any outstanding and make sure you use the correct oil.  As long as they are looked after they should be okay.  If you identify the problems you're having the experts will be able to help you. Smile

the problem in oz though is there is hardly any dealer back up from what i can gather it's not like here at all, also another problem is finding someone that knows them really well.
if your in the uk i'd say stick with it as ther is a lot of help available if it goes wrong but in australia i think you may be better of with a hilux or similar

teak8 back
Problem with my 4JX1 is surging with throttle closed, this is an intermittant fault in as much as can drive it one day everything perfect no hiccups .Next day after motor has warmed properly lift foot off throttle & motor starts to rev on it's own by as much as 500/800 revs.has had O Rinds replaced &no apparent increase in crankcase oil level. Has also had RPOS replaced. Seems nobody here in Aus nobody understands the onboard Computer.

What oil do you use in it ? Has to be a fully synth 5/30 ( not castrol magnatec) or an air in the fuel thing .

You can do some diagnostic work by flashing up codes with the OBD plug which is fairly easy , our Romania Isuzu Mechanic  did it ok as tech 2 was not available to him , it does help to take the guesswork out .

Oil is synthetic here in AUS with our temperatures we use 15W30 .Have had no fault codes show on Tech 2. Have found Mechanic with some interest & no Bull*&^ . He is going to set up LapTop Comp. on car & leave it on to try & log Faults or compare Running Paramators against Defaults

15/30 is way to thick for the 4jx1, if its really hot there try dropping to 10/30 allthough 5/30 would be preferable.
The 4jx1 needs oil like p1ss to fire the injectors.
