255/65r16 Are a stock hight tyre, just a bit wider. With a one inch lift you could easily get 31" tyres in there, that would give you a 1" lift under the axles.

I have driven everything I pointed it at on 31's in the past. If you have 15 inch rims 31.10.50r15 are a very common size with lots of good deals as a result.

Its not fair surely somebody took piccies of little old me i know we was driving slow but surely someone got one hee hee even though i was back of the bus hee hee. Have to agree though Laird think a lift might be a good idea next time hee hee and some manual hubs too seeing as ours were slipping like mad, but all said we will be back.

Still looking Mat.  That is just one option. Tyres are only £44.36 each! But  they are only 29 inch diameter.
With a lift I have the option of 16 inch rims.

Did you space the front dif down? And, did I see wheel spacers on your Trooper?

I dropped the front axle one inch, but I have a two inch lift, you won't need to touch it for a one inch lift. Dropping the front axle is more involved than spacers, but not difficult if you can weld. Here is the link to what I did (axle drop towards the end).

You will have to keep an eye on your camber as you lift the front, the higher you go the more it pulls the tops of the wheels in due to the top wishbone being shorter than the bottom one. Remounting the ball joint under the top arm instead of on top raises the top arm giving you a bit back on the camber. I found around 1.5 inch with a ball joint flip gave 0 camber, but this will vary from truck to truck. This is why it's best to lift the front first so you can maintain the correct camber angles then make some extended shackles to match the rear to the front.

I do have wheel spacers and big offset rims, the idea was to widen the track as much as I lifted the truck, this obviously maintains stability when compared with some already taller Mk2/3/4s that have big lifts but are still running more or less the same width with the wheels still under the arches!

NOTE, don't use cast spacers with stud extensions, they are not safe as you loose the normal lug centric mounting. Only use solid spacers with pressed in studs.

Yes, I remember the 'c r ap' spacers that were about on minis!
I have to dismantle the spring hangers to fit the new bushes, so I may make them up ready.
I have welding facilities so I could do the dif. I don't want to put too much angle into the CV joints.

Lift it first and have a look.

Anyone putting a big lift on with the intention of getting serious use off road rather than cruising to tescos should do this IMO
