When I was last out with a couple of mates offroading we used his cheap 2km pmr radios, its so nice to be able to instantly communicate with each other (and have some banter) but it was a bit limited to range etc being inside a tin box! I spotted THESE on eeeeebaaaay and was wondering if anyone out there has tried these longer distance radios? Some of these little units have claims of nearly 40 miles line of sight range! I'm guessing a few miles inside a car would be possible in that case? I like the look of the Midland ones.

I think most people greenlaning or off roading use CB radio.
I was lent one last month in the Peak district and for a hand held it was
so much more advanced that the ones we used to use in the beginning.

I was thinking about going back to CB too, but the pmr's would come in handy for other things and I like the fact that they are portable and easy to swap between cars/boats or just popping them in your pocket!
