|
|
my dad used to work for a big auto accsessory supllyer up here (he's retired now) but can still go up and get his staff discount ...anyway he took me up there today to get service parts for my 3.0ltr and to my surprise they only listed the bypass oil
filter and not the primary one..but as i knew roughly the size i got the one listed for the 3.1ltr as it looks the same size and
i presume the threads are the same......can i use this filter or is the 3.0ltr one totally different.......not too bothered if it's
different as with my dad's staff discount it only cost me £4 for a FRAM filter..just goes to show how much mark up the accessorie shops and dealer's make ...also got 2x5ltr of 5-30 tripple Rfully synth (high spec) badged under car lube (but i no it's made by a bigger manufacturer) for £16 a gallon...anyway help with the filter prob much apreciated _________________ LTM NO.41 |

The 3.1 filter is fatter so it wont pass between the front torsion bar and the front prop the mating face on the 3.1 will fit on the 3.0 housing you could try it and see. the manafacturer might have made them thinner for the 3.1 to make them universal. |

isuzu list the filters as different they don't supersede over to one or the other so i presume that there is something different about them although i have seen import 3.1's running a filter the same as a 3.0l |

The long skinny 3.1 filter has the same external dimensions as the 3.0 filter but has 2 stage internals, part of which gives a bypass function. I don't see how fitting this to a 3.0 would harm it but I can't be sure. It has certainly been swapped the other way without any ill effect.
