Hi all, I recently bought a motorhome with a CB in it, it's a Uniden Uniace 200 whatever that is.  My question is how do I use it?  All I get is a hissing sound when I switch it on  (I can get rid of by pressing knobs etc) any help would be appreciated (come back  Wink sorry could'nt help it).

thanks keith

Check the arial is connected, check to see if it has (27/81) in a circle on the front, then select an empty channel and turn the squelch just enough to stop the hissing, then go to CH19 and say 1-9 a rig check  Smile

Mark, when you say try an empty channel do you mean one thats not in use by anyone else at that particular time?  if so tried that then switched to CH19 but got nothing and yes it does have 27/81.  Checked at the back of the unit and it looks like the arial is in.  There is a db meter and the needle barely moves when i transmit?

That needle/meter is supposed to go to near the top when you transmit, check the hi-low power switch, if its on high then you have a problem.

Mark, just tried it again with power button 4w or 0.4w but the needle is still only moving slightly so i presume it's knackered  Crying or Very sad what do think it might cost to repair (i know a bit like how long is a piece of string)

Or unplug the areal and try, if the needle goes up then its not the rig, only try it for a few seconds as without a load it can burn the thing out.

the ariel could simply need 'tuning' (either lengthen or shorten) you'll need a SWR meter for this

Does anyone have an old rig they no longer need? Can't really afford to buy a new one and the prices on the blag are pretty steep from what I've seen.
