Hallo
I'm having oil pressure taking a bit to come up, (as long as 6-7 seconds before the needle moves).

No external leakage...

I also thought to pickup o-rings but....

the first oil pump...the anti-drain back valve of the original oil filter..maybe.?

any tips...?

Thanks

I have worked on the 4JX1 engine in a 1998 Bighorn.
One main fault is the seal on the oil pickup for the engine lubrication. This is the right side oil pickup when standing behind the vehicle and looking to the front of the vehicle.  If you have low oil pressure (3 1/2 kg/cm2) on acceleration then the seal has deteriorated and this allows air to enter the oil pump behind and inside the engine.  The OEM seal is rubber and shrinks due to the heat.  Replace it with a couple of silicon seals 17mmID x 3mm silicon o-ring. 3 of these seals will fit on the oil pickup but I found only 2 of them would push into the oil pump entry hole.  The oil pressure went up to 6 1/4 kg/cm2 under acceleration and 3 1/2 kg/cm2 idling.  I should also point out that if oil pressure is not coming up for a period of time then the turbo is not being lubricated.  You can destroy the turbo bearing after a hundred meters driving.  The oil pressure should show on the oil gauge straight away.  If it doesn't then replace the oil pickup seal.
