|
|
Hi guys , I have a 1998 trooper with shift on the fly ,I have two problems , some times it shifts into 4x4 good ,some time it wont and the light just flashes , the front prop-shaft spins so it must be in the front axle , I cant figure it out as when I go to check it it usually decides to work .
The other problem is I cant get it to shift into low range , it comes out of high range into neutral but its as if the lever doesn't go back far enough , hope some one has some good ideas , thanks . Stu. |

on some SOTF there is a magnet that stops the transefer lever moving into low unless the 4WD button is pressed
cheers

Try checking the oil in the sotf part of the front axle - if its gone it makes the shift sticky .
Holds about 300cc of gear oil . Also put your finger on the hose that goes to the wheel side of the sotf shifter can and see if its giving a good suck as sometimes the shifter can rubber can rot out .
If the 4wd is not in the 4wd ECU wont let you get low range or is it still stopping you when the 4wd is in ? _________________ 2 New Troopers ! |

Hi , yes when it is in 4X4 and the front axle is engaged it still wont go into low range , I will check the oil on the soft shift for the not shifting to 4X4 Gribble and I will try holding the 4X4 button for the low range greasemonkey . |

Hey Guys , I changed the oil in the soft shift , still doesn't engage the front axle without a lot of pressing the 4x4 button , still no low range , and when it does finally go into 4x4 high the transfer case jumps out of gear |
