|
|
Hi,
I was just updating my Tom Tom and noticed amoungst the free downloads a green lane file. It seems to have loaded ok having located a nearest to me POI greenlane in Stanley.
Has anyone used satnav for finding greenlanes?

It will be a handy tool but not all lanes marked are legal to drive, Councils have a habit of changing there status and its up to you to find out
They are supposed to put a notice up at each end of the lane if its closed but rarley do _________________ |

The satnav gives you a UID which can be checked on wayfinder. Very useful.

Sounds good but unless its a known lane I would still check, its better than having your truck taken away _________________ |

myself (live in stanley ) and adz1973 (durham) are in the process of sorting out greenlaning maps...adz has just got the full uk memory maps on disc...so we and our other 4x4 mates can get out and do some laning without having to rely on
people from the local 4x4 club we're also in _________________ LTM NO.41 |

I've got the memory map software now installed on laptop and the maps i'll use which ever when needed, i've ordered a gps dongle off flea bay and i'll take lap top with me when out and can just put the grid ref in the Tom Tom.
I've got a Navman PiN 570 but not a clue how to load the maps onto it which as its smaller would save takin laptop, never mind though. _________________

putting memory maps on a pda is simple as is the maps just need a memory card it all sits in what ever directory you want it too you just tell the program where it is located ie memory card, maps folder
i have found http://www.trailzilla.com/# this useful for finding local lanes but it is kept up to date by members _________________ karl

Its installing the memory map software on the PDA initially i'm struggling with, i already have it installed on my laptop, do i need to put the disc in again while the PDA is synced with laptop and go install from there. _________________

no just sync pda with pc/laptop
start mm and click mobile device on the top of the page and click install pocket navigator, it automatically recognizes the device and installs the software _________________ karl
