I have a Hoda Horizon( trooper in drag) and the heater is woeful, was wondering how do you switch on this ceramic heater I hear talk of, could it have been disconected as I believe there were issues with wireing as we had a recall on our SWB 96 trooper but being on a remote Scottish Island wasnt cost effective to do any thing about it, that just seems to come on and work by itself. The water temperature doesnt rise very far either not surprising as our longest run is seven miles.

The Ceramic heater is supposedly 'automatic'
I could be wrong but you would only have a Ceramic set up on a Trooper (type Wink ) with twin Batteries.

You will know if they are working by the dip in revs when you have the heater controls to Hot, and turn on the fan (on a cold engine) - should drop something like 200rpm.

7 miles does sound a long time to get to heat the block, but I guess on the islands it will be a 'slow' or low revs 7 miles?
Change the thermostat?

A 3.1 trooper should be piping by  miles. After putting a new thermostat in mine it heats up really quick. My heater isn't the hottest though. I must try putting a hose pipe and flush the heater.

Dip in revs is wrong, it should go up by 200rpm or so.
To be totally honest the ceramic heater is only good for defrosting/demisting the screen, dont excpect any heat.

Oh yeah - forgot to say, as per Mark, it is Revs rise,

and the Ceramic heaters (or at least in mine) gave our chuff all heat.
Great Idea I think, just poorly rated.

Yes - traditionally Petrols will always warm up faster than Diesels -
Engine Block Material's, Heat of 'explosion' etc.

All my ceramic heater has ever done is pull the voltage down slightly when it's automatically selected for on, that is, when the heater control is on hot and the fan is turned on.
Is there a fuse to pull so I can do away with this useless feature?
